Back from the Kermadecs

Well actually I have been back a few weeks now but things have been super busy (I think they will remain that way until the exhibition in November). It was a fantastic trip with a fantastic bunch of people. Over the next few weeks I will upload photos to tell the full story but for now it will be short and sweet.

The ship: This is how we got there – the HMNZS Otago. It took 2 days sailing to get to Raoul Island.

The crew (well the artists actually) From left to right: Jason O’hara (Me), Phil Dadson, Fiona Hall, John Pule, John Reynolds (The Swamp Creature) , Marcus Lush, Bronwen Golder (from PEW), Robin White, Elizabeth Thomson, Bruce Foster and Gregory O’Brien.

The Island: Land Ho! Our first sight of Raoul Island at 6am on the 3rd day at sea. Taken from the bridge of the Otago (the only room with windows on the ship). You can just see Phil standing on the deck.

It is still early days but I have seen drawings etc from some of the other artists … I think this is going to be a great show.

Watch this space!
